Project phase 1: Concept detail defines the requirements in both words and images
A sitemap, a storyboard onscreen and mock-ups set down in detail what the programmer and designer must do. This detailed functional specification is considered to be one of getunik’s strengths.
If the foundations for strategy and content are well laid, then objectives, editorial and technical requirements can be clearly identified. In this way, the designer will soon realise, «Aha! The homepage is made of news. The history of the company is narrated as an image gallery.»
The programmer for his part must know exactly what he has to programme. Two examples: Do the two latest press releases reach the homepage automatically? Or does the image gallery consist solely of images? Does it feature legends as well? Do the texts change with each image?
Concept detail also includes other basic decisions. The important ones are the respective tree structures, functional specifications and mock-ups.
Organise, define, sketch
- Tree structure: Visualises and structures the content concept as a sitemap
- Functional specification: Description of functions whether technical, editorial or functional
- Mock-ups: Design sketches including the homepage, important elements of pages, etc.
This is one of the strengths of getunik according to the jury of Best of Swiss Web awards. The jury highlights websites which “are exemplary in bringing out complex contents and applications in such a manner that they can be used by the targeted internet users intuitively and according to their requirements”.
We are very happy to note that the websites of getunik clients have been regularly winning awards.
The next step
Phase 1 ends as soon as the content, design and technical requirements are defined as accurately as possible. Now our screen designers can create a website with style.

Marco Zaugg, co-founder, CEO says:
«If the objectives are defined measurably, then almost all the projects of our clients are successful.»
